one day the medical world will accept that constantly alternating between night and day shifts is a leading cause of burnout. to survive nights over an extended period, you need adequate rest, adequate staffing(!), and pay recognition.

Joe Rogan does three-hour long podcasts. if i listen to three hours of what i said last week i'd barely agree with myself. i think it's normal to not agree with everything he says. he often thinks out loud and his thoughts are often silly. but often, they're thought-provoking.

a great senior doctor will create a great culture and they will make you want to come to work early (sometimes!) to learn from them. they will recognize this, and hopefully reciprocate fairly (eg not making you chase them for assessments!). such team cultures are the exception.

this was basically our last podcast in one tweet... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ the well-meaning left gets embroiled in what perfume they're wearing, they try and shut down voices like Femi for no other reason than ego. these conversations are real obstacles to progress. during a pandemic. FFS.

i remember very clearly when John Terry was accused of racism towards Anton Ferdinand...and Terry continued to play at the highest level, and is now a Premier League coach. racism is reflection of our power structures.

There's an episode of The Thick Of It where the government enlist Andy Murray to help with a public campaign. It turns into a disaster. Watch our real-life parody of a government as they inevitably enlist the cast of Love Island to explain vaccines on This Morning.

"is there literally anything else i could post on tiktok?" would be a good start for anyone considering doing a hospital macarena.

i mostly agree. i found the tiktoks were a soft target for daily mail types and didn't reflect reality. meant that a 20 second video of nurses blowing off steam got attention, not like they were taking selfies showing themselves weaning a patient off a ventilator for context...

there's a Vitamin D truther movement that has gotten waaaaay out of hand. it's like saying covid patients are more likely to die if they don't wear watches, then recommending everyone to wear a watch. somewhere, there's been a leap in logic which I find bizarre.

I've read the response as well as most of the studies referenced. yes, there are a lot of sources, but the author goes for quantity over quality. NICE already did a meta-analysis showing those vitamin D studies haven't looked at confounding factors etc.
