Every student at Eton (including myself) was tested on the return to school. It's the right thing to do. But if it's good enough for Etonians, then my friends in East London deserve nothing less.

Cases aren’t rising because ‘nothing works’. Plenty of other countries have had far more success than the U.K. has had with Covid. The kind of sophisticated testing they have in places like South Korea or Singapore or even Italy would be a start.

If Boris Johnson thinks £150,000 is an unfairly low salary, just wait until he hears about how much the nurses he literally owes his life to get paid.

It’s not so much the government that I despair of, it’s the people who voted for them. I honestly can’t get my head around that, that these people are proud of what they voted in!

It's governance by people who don't believe in government: it's going to be a shitshow innit? That's why existing hospital laboratories & local authority public health infrastructure has been ignored for covid testing. They'd outsource the D-Day landings no-bid contract to Serco.

Johnson is a moral litmus test. The way you react to him defines you. It’s not possible to be indifferent to evil.

I’d actually like to apologise to . I used to moan incessantly about him on TV and in my column when he was in office. I never acknowledged his decency and his obvious commitment to doing what’s best. Johnson has made me reappraise a lot of people, including myself.

Look at Leo Varadkar going back into practice during this pandemic. What do we have? A lazy, slovenly narcissist, who is now feeling sorry for himself due to feeling £150k a year is not enough. Shameful.

Have you seen the distinguished line of Public Health officials in Liverpool that hails from? A city that has battled Cholera, Typhoid among others, because it has had a "Local" Public Health Service? This man has been ignored.

I’ve never seen a more stupid government than this, that’s for sure. I wrote critical pieces about all of them, but this lot have made me appreciate them in a way I never did before. They at least all tried. Worked hard, mostly, too. They all gave a damn.

Diddums. But still he gets his holidays paid for and we still haven’t seen the declaration of who paid. And all those mates getting Covid contracts without tender to balls it all up will bung a few mill his way when he’s gone

Governments haven’t always been so thick and unconcerned with people’s lives. In 1938, Archibald McIndoe was appointed consultant plastic surgeon to the RAF. People in authority then had the imagination to anticipate what lay ahead. In this case, airmen sustaining burns injuries.
