Someone asked yesterday what would be advantages of a fully digital method, I think there are advantages and disadvantages but I like that elected MPs have to be in Chamber in order to vote and that elected MPs, one from each side of a vote, count them.

The other two doors into each lobby are also locked. The exit end is still open but MPs are not allowed to enter through that door, which is where the two tellers are counting as MPs come through one by one. When result announced, Speaker says "unlock", all doors unlocked.

At the start of the vote the doors to the exit ends of voting lobbies are locked and entrances open. When tellers arrive at exit end, doorkeeper unlocks them. After 8 mins Speaker calls "lock the doors" and entrance end is locked - MPs not arrived by then can't vote.

achievement remarkable because so many MPs across all parties recognised that we have to work together to hold onto Parliamentary sovereignty in the face of a PM who will not rule out suspending Parliament to get his own way on a disastrous no-deal Brexit. Lots of work involved!

Two votes, and I taking our turns as part of the team, Nic announced the first one - the amendment by Alistair Burt and Hilary Benn strengthening the amendment made by the House of Lords, which was in turn the subject of the second vote, which I announced

Very concerning that the Bishopston Medical Practice is to close. It's important to have good healthcare provision for local residents. Please let the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group know your views - details in the link below.

Why the decision that the House of Commons took today is so significant.

The House of Commons votes for a second time to uphold the previous win and Lords Amendment on preventing Prorogation being used to force through no-deal Brexit against the wishes of Parliament. 315/273 a majority of 42.

Thanks Maria! Great team work all round, across the house-most MPs know that proroguing Parliament to get round us is deeply undemocratic. This Parliamentary session should have ended already and a Queen's Speech + new session begun. prorogation to get No-deal Brexit = disastrous

BREAKING: I announced the vote where MPs resoundingly voted to effectively stop the next Prime Minister suspending parliament to crash us out of the EU without a deal. Proud to be part of the team defending our sovereign parliamentary democracy!

Let's be clear about what it means. Even if the bill passed it would not stop no-deal. It would simply mean that if Johnson tried to cancel parliament, MPs could come and sit anyway.

Find someone who looks at you the way Thangam Debbonaire looks at destroying Boris Johnson's ability to cancel parliament.

Danger of tech fail if no human to check. Currently we do have machines in the lobbies to help prevent people from attempting to vote twice but they do sometimes fail- I would always want humans - one from each side - to check

Envious of getting to announce the second Government defeat of the day. Up to a 42 vote majority on that one.
