Also: up until 2020, NY had weak rules on speedy trials AND on discovery [=it did not enable defense to get access to info or evidence, which it may want to question, until shortly before trial]. How can you defend keeping ppl "in jail almost a year" pretrial in such conditions?

Also why does it take a year to try this case? Isn’t a speedy trial enshrined into our constitution? How many needlessly suffer in limbo while the clock runs?
