The bottom-line is that it's the 2nd biggest state in the country, it's still a GOP fortress so Dems have won almost nothing for decades, but it's now close enough that Dems who lose are at least competitive (unlike CA), so nearly all famous Dems are famous despite losing

Florida's privatized prison health care system is getting Centurion hundreds of millions, while it effectively does as it pleases with next to no accountability -- other than journalists like refusing to let it go.

.: With this rule, the President is moving closer toward converting ICE into a show-me-your-papers militia. It really reads of a send-them-all-back policy that will remove thousands w/o even a hearing or an attorney.

I looked at how from the start of the AIDS epidemic, the government has failed to treat all communities equally. At times when federal policies have caused spikes in infection rates, people of color, LGBTQ people, and the poor have tended to suffer most:

SO MANY qualifiers in Pence statement on whether Trump & him will ask ppl to stop chanting "send her back." → Repeatedly uses 'might' → Why do you need to "make an effort" just to "speak out"? How hard is that? → The big move is to "speak out about it"

This is a MASSIVE and DANGEROUS change. Now, if ICE believes someone is undocumented and has lived in the US for less than two years—with the burden on the immigrant to prove otherwise—they can deport that person within days, with almost no court review allowed.

. breaks down some of the many problems with the new Franken article in this thread. Others also note sentences in the article that are definitely worth pausing over them:

Heads up: the trump admin is issuing a rule seeking to dramatically expand expedited removal — to people who have been in the country for 2 years and within 100 (air) miles of the border (which 2/3rds of the country is in):

First paragraph of Marton's campaign announcement: "as a young man of color growing up in 1990s New York City, Marton experienced firsthand how 'tough on crime' tactics like stop and frisk eroded the community’s trust."

That should read the 30-year old mayor, not the 30-year mayor. And that actually seems fairly important to the sort of 'political renewal' message that primary challenges like this often draw on...
