After the site patrol at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini NPS, there are no abnormalities found on the facilities. No impact has been confirmed on monitoring posts and plant parameters, as well as main power facilities.

Earthquake occurred around 10:22 pm JST off Yamagata prefecture - At the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini NPS, there are no abnormalities found on the monitoring post and plant parameters. No impact has been confirmed on our main power facilities as well.

On April 15, 2019, work began to remove fuel from Unit 3 spent fuel pool of Fukushima Daiichi NPS for the first time since the 2011 accident. Unit 3 spent fuel pool holds 566 fuel assemblies in total, and the work is expected to be completed by March 2021.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Fukushima Daiichi. After being given a tour the Prime Minister presented letters of gratitude to contractor employees, and said, “Let’s continue to work together until we have enabled Fukushima to completely recover.”
