CO2 has dropped dramatically after-hours, which may explain why I find it so nice to work later

It’s now at 730 CO2 PPM. Incredible. That’s basically half. Somethings wrong with the air exchange rate. Wouldn’t have known if I didn’t buy this thing.

Here’s the unit. Note there’s no referral link. I don’t get anything if you click this. My funding all comes from Microsoft kickbacks. Hydrofarm APCEM2 Autopilot Desktop CO2 Monitor & Data Logger

You know what would be utterly fascinating and trigger massive social change? If Apple Watch added oxygen and carbon dioxide level monitoring. There’s really no way for you to know about these problems except with sampling equipment, and most people won’t drag one around.

Update: Facilities dept is going to fix ventilation rate in room I gave them info about, something was broken/overlooked in cycle setting despite it being modern HVAC system! I brought this home and my apartment was over 1000. Fixed it by opening a window/turning on bathroom fan.

This can happen by accident despite a modern building and high-end system my employer can afford, & treats employees very well! Definitely ask your management to buy a CO2 meter to make sure you’re not all 15% dumber during meetings. This isn’t a joke they took me seriously.

UPDATE: Facilities identified a problem in HVAC system configuration and fixed it. CO2 levels are down significantly from 1300 to 850 and the air feels much fresher. 😊

Looks like a deal on a $100 standalone CO2 meter with alarm, and the might be a better option for those who need history but don’t need a display, now $150 for the original one.

Moved to a WeWork office... We kept getting pissed at each other in meetings and fighting and headaches for the first weeks. Someone accidentally swapped to the Temperature Display to the CO2 monitor (thank god it had that) and it showed >1500. Saw it go to 2300 in a meeting.

We luckily moved out of there (temporary office move) and as soon as we did our productivity sky rocketed back up. I still kinda forget what I did that year and change. Tho I’m now super sensitive to CO2 now know the effects.
