Blockbuster story buried in this NYT report. Pentagon, intelligence officials fear they cannot trust Trump enough to brief him fully on new US cyber operation against Russia for fear he will "countermand it or discuss it with foreign officials" as he did before with Russians.

Blockbuster story on CYBERCOM operations in the Russian grid. That’ll get most of the attention, of course. But don’t miss the significance, too, of the passages dealing with the reluctance of officials to draw Trump’s attention to these ops.

OSC's Kellyanne Conway report matters because it exposes the administration's disrespect for laws that lack effective enforcement mechanisms. Hatch Act violations are easy to understand and easy to detect. Violations of other laws can be harder to understand and easier to hide.

"The refusal to begin impeachment proceedings is, in fact, a judgment on the merits of the potentially impeachable offense. It’s a judgment that the president’s conduct, while bad, is not that bad." If that's Pelosi's judgment, she should explain it.

Political candidates and elected officials should not talk about the future prosecution of any individual. Law enforcement decisions must be apolitical.

Differing with Trump, GOP opposes accepting foreign campaign help: “I THINK IT IS VERY CLEAR, IF IT WERE ME IN THIS CASE, I WOULD NOT ACCEPT OPPOSITION RESEARCH FROM A FOREIGN POWER OR, I MEAN, I WOULD IMMEDIATELY TURN IT OVER TO THE FBI. THAT SHOULD BE THE RESPONSE”

A constitutional amendment by definition is constitutional and SCOTUS won’t strike it down. Rather, no such amendment will pass because — of all people — Mitch McConnell is a staunch opponent. I discussed how we got here in this historical thread. 👇👇

I criticized Hurd for signing the HPSCI letter at the time and would encourage any reporter with the opportunity to push him for an explanation. But if Hurd doesn’t pass the test, then someone name me a Republican member who even sort of knows this area who does.

I spent the last several days watching the husband of a Virginia Beach mass shooting victim lay his wife to rest and deal with the aftermath of the attack and his new life as a single dad to a 22-month old boy. Here is their story:

Will Hurd is one of the smartest and most engaged members of Congress on cybersecurity, on either side of the aisle. To disinvite him from Black Hat over his views on abortion, promotes a flawed and counterproductive narrative that cybersecurity & election security are partisan.

What other views disqualify someone from keynoting Black Hat? Best not to invite any legislator with more than a term under her belt. Should Black Hat now ask potential speakers for their views on abortion, or is it fine so long as we don't know?

The U.S. Treasury saw a 31% drop in corporate tax revenues last year, almost twice the decline official budget forecasters had predicted. Receipts were projected to rebound sharply this year, but so far they’ve only continued to fall.

The Guardian cut its weekly story production by *one third*... and traffic went up, said . This is amazing on many many levels, and something we should all be paying attention to. Less is sometimes more.

I think Democrats are vastly underestimating the ways a corrupt and lawless president can use the powers of the presidency itself to cheat in an election.
