My Sikh brother-in-law, born in Rishikesh, a senior exec in an MNC in Gurgaon has been harassed for past 1yr & unable to get a passport cause his parents messed up the docs while immigrating from Pak. Imagine the nightmare CAA+NRC will unleash on poor families specially muslims.

"My Dad thinks i'm studying history. He doesn't know that i'm busy making one." This has to be one of the best image of these protests. Reminds me of the protest pics in USA against the Vietman war. Via :

Influential voices are sitting silent & watching India being divided on religious lines. It is their choice to speak up/not. My respect for them goes up, when beyond movies they play atleast a supporting actor’s role, if not that of a hero’s.

Those who fantasize about India with a Hindu king and his subservient subjects, remember this. Even if I dignified your bigotry (I don’t), you can't wish 200mn Muslims away. Try that and India will burn,GDP will crash and your kids will be unsafe and jobless.Stop these fantasies!

This protest is not by the Muslims, for the Muslims and of the Muslims. It is by the people, for the people and of the people who believe in the idea of India.

The youth is angry. There are not enough jobs. Salaries are low. Don’t mess with them. The first priority should be to lift the economy back again.

Crashing the economy. Making jobs vanish. Shutting down Internet. Sending police in libraries. The youth may have patience, but don’t test the limits of it.

Some very disturbing images are coming out of today. The government appears to have badly underestimated the citizenship law’s impacts-unless, that is, it simply doesn’t care. But let’s be clear: These images are not the India that its government wants the world to see.
