On June 18th in 1983, Let Burn made history and became one of the few New England-based horses to win the Massachusetts Handicap. Though he was known more for his sprinting ability, the bay son of Big Burn made every call a winning one and went gate-to-wire.

Hampshire was inducted into the New England Hall of Fame in 2012 in honor of his decorated local career which included nine meet titles at the East Boston Oval and 67 stakes victories at both Suffolk Downs and Rockingham Park.
