Had a good coffee and opened the post. Slow start to my day. Much to do but no time pressure.

Good morning, all. I hope this day finds you well and in tolerable spirits. Those finding the day difficult are in my prayers. The house is quiet. The cats are asleep, probably a reaction to the bonkers galloping around the house last night, something they do when it’s windy.

Cold here today and grey. I open the door and there it is the smell of autumn and the turn of the year. Far too soon I whisper. Only the blackbird was listening.

I think the hover is sometimes interest but often just a self soothing activity. I don’t know what to do but you are doing a thing and watching feels like helping...etc. If only it were helping.

Ah, you say, but, you continue, this is just a pretext to start a conversation. I disagree. A conversation implies back and forth, an exchange of views. Question, reply, grunt does not a conversation make. An interruption is what it makes.

I’ve taken to meal planning for the week, writing the plan on the daily calendar on the door in big letters and in the good pen and yet...and yet I am asked about the food and have to throw a hopeless gesture at the door.

Breakfast. That’s what I forgot. Wondering if I can sneak into the kitchen without various hangers on appearing out of the woodwork to ask about lunch.

Just said ‘right then’ in a purposeful way. Not sure it’s going to have the desired effect.

"What no one tells you when you start trying to become a poet is that there isn’t one single, obvious way of going about it. You end up trying a lot of things, some of which are, in retrospect, ludicrous." in Far Villages, ed. Abayomi Animashaun
