The cost to the State of educating kids currently at private school would be a bit over £3 billion. The other stuff is creative accountancy by the private sector to make the figure appear larger.

I have a minor etiquette question that often bothers me: is it rude in a taxi or Uber (or whatever) to listen to music on headphones? I always worry I should be available for polite chat, but maybe the driver is relieved too.
