#4 What is the point? Despite accepted science to the contrary, the anti-hunting zealots closed Botswana hunting and fueled a population explosion on an already overpopulated elephant herd. Hunting is a conservation tool that helps mitigate situations like this.

#3 Animals living too close & sharing limited habitat create conditions for new diseases. These unexplained deaths may be the beginning of an elephant pandemic, with Nature culling the herd down to numbers commensurate with the habitat. Hopefully, this is not be the case.

#1 Emotion-Based Conservation=Dead Elephants: Botswana officials are puzzled by the unexplained deaths of nearly 400 elephants in the Okavango Delta. We may not know the cause of death, but the reason is almost certainly the incredible OVERPOPULATION of jumbo in the country.

Lives on Hold: I should be packing Africa today. has canceled my plans. But my friends in Africa are in hard quarantine. They will likely be without income until next season. I hope they can hold on & preserve the African wildlife so we can all share in it again someday.
