Used to see these Cinnabar moths & caterpillars a lot (feed mainly on ragwort) but not so much now. N.B. The Ragwort Control Act 2003 does NOT seek to eradicate ragwort but to implement control within 100m of grazing/ forage land- gd info here

Hi Paul, did you put more wetter and/or irrigation on since we last spoke? Hydrophobic soil only in some places?

Might be a little heavy but very interesting article about the complexities of pollinator/flower interactions. Turns out diversity of flower species is even more important that we though!

Need to ref. book but dont think they r all in there sadly. Grime only documented ~85 plant sp. The triangle attempts to simplify a very complex subject-difficult to measure exactly how much stress/disturbance occurred on any 1m2 of fairway but overall it fits observations q well

Heat was part of it for sure but 'The Disturbance Theory' ref Comparative Plant Ecology by Prof. Grime explains it- increasing stress AND disturbance will ultimately end in turf death (and then regrowth from seed by Poa). Fescue (grn) will be lost before rye (blue).
