It’s 14.5 hours later and these brave Indigenous youth are facing imminent arrest, as they are being given their final warning. Vic PD hasn’t allowed legal observers into the building. Supporters are chanting “You are not alone! VicPD go home!” Share!

People outside have been told that if they touch the yellow police tape, they could be arrested. Youth inside requested the police liaisons disarm to ensure safety. The police refused this, yet are tweeting about a “peaceful resolution.” They’re the ones with the guns + batons.

Police blocked food, water, and medicine from the Indigenous youth inside the building. From reports on the ground, the police only acquiesced when supporters threatened to block the busy road.

10 more heavily armed copes just went inside the building. This is scene at the front doors of the building. You can feel the tension and we’re worried about the youth inside given the massive police presence + history of police violence against Indigenous ppl in Canada.

Cops are forcefully picking up and shoving people out of the way. They put someone in a cop car without telling them their rights. Some are changing “let the elder go” while others are drumming and singing the women’s warrior song.

I counted 33 cops inside the building + outside the front door. The legacy of police violence toward Indigenous people is being continued in full force tonight, in the cover of darkness at 2 AM. In downtown Victoria at ’s ministry, b/c of ’s (in)action.

Another Indigenous youth from inside the BC ministry has been arrested. I attempted to film but it’s difficult under the cover of 2:30 AM darkness. Shame on the Vic PD for the violence they’re perpetuating + the BC gov for allowing it to reach this point.

It’s now 2:54 AM and we’re waiting. The cops are strategizing for their next arrest. Supporters are singing “Power to the Indigenous youth, you cannot arrest the truth.” Just hearing that the next arrest is happening, they’re searching someone on the ground.
