Yesterday we also remembered the men who embroidered the First World War altar frontal during their recovery from injuries sustained during the war. The altar frontal will remain on display until the end of 2018. Learn more:

This morning more than 1800 students and teachers gathered to remember the past tragedies of war and to be inspired to become peace makers. Their peace motifs and prayers were dropped from the Whispering Gallery and are now gathered under the dome.

in 1905 Sir George Williams, founder of the YMCA, died. He is buried in our crypt, and his memorial reads: 'My last legacy and it is a precious one is the Young Men's Christian Association. I leave it to you beloved young men of many countries to carry on and extend.'

Our Cathedral bells will officially ring again tomorrow, their 140th birthday, following a long period of silence during their restoration. You are welcome to join us at 5pm for our All Saints' Day Eucharist at which we'll also give thanks for the return of the bells.
