I'd definitely be open to hearing what you have issues with, but I'd overall just prefer it if we could modify the current standard. As both a developer on a package manager and a repo maintainer, I don't want a whole new format.

Wouldn't it be better just to make tabs optional? All that's required is unrestricting the root view being a tab view and it's good to go. I'm just trying to get CoolStar on board. Here's Shuga's test depiction with a stack view as the root, and it was a one line fix in sileo.

I wouldn't go as far as saying tabs are a non-native functionality. Sure, the app store doesn't use tabs like that, but that doesn't mean an iOS app isn't allowed to.

...should be changed based on the package manager. It should be up to the repo maintainer how they want the depictions to look, not the package manager developers.

It seems the only thing you're changing is how tabs work though? Which honestly I don't really like since it disregards the intentions of repo maintainers and creates inconsistencies with how depictions are displayed. I don't like that tabs are forced, but I don't think they...

I think the current native depiction spec does do a good job transitioning from the complete customizability of web depictions though. If we went immediately from web to a super simplified format, I don't think people would've been happy.

And don't forget depiction sub pages exist 😉

The argument I've been seeing is that tabbed depictions allow for better accessibility due to the reduction of vertical scrolling, which is especially helpful for voice over users. Do you think that's enough to warrant forced tabs?

Example: Sileo's tabbed depictions on the left, Installer's non-tabbed depictions on the right.

Do you guys prefer tabbed depictions like Sileo's, or non-tabbed like Installer/web depictions? I'm ONLY asking about the tabs, not the UI or layout of anything else.

wow, hilarious. you got the whole squad laughing. 😐 maybe instead of blindly hating it, you could try it and see why people like it so much.

I did all my development on a phone for years. Sure, it's inefficient, but it works.
