Thanks Amma. I struggle to find ways to facilitate this happening for them, but I will keep saying it. Ideas welcome!

Important to also raise awareness that some women don't get any signs or symptoms of pre-eclampsia at all and can get a sudden onset of pre-eclampsia. Antenatal appointments important.

And while as a midwife I will willingly follow a woman to her maternal decision caesarean birth or care for her without a single VE or FH if asked, I think mostly these days about the burden of chosing what cannot be had without realising others prevent you having it ctd

It's a word that has given me a lot of thought. I strongly support EBP and thought informed choice was a panacea / now I think it can individualise blame and stigmatise childbearing people who do not or cannot chose 'well' ctd

And I think most of all that justice from the providers of care and equity in access and outcomes are my central concern - that the burden must be with those who make maternity services and not with pregnant people

This got me thinking too . Language is a good starting point. I am continually editing what I say. But its more about how unwittingly engaged we are with an oppressive ideology. The rhetoric of choice cloaks the reality of our risk focused, fear driven world.

Children of same sex parents are in the midst of this all and witnessing first-hand the whole debate, it is completely soul destroying for so many of us who are parents and an attempted destruction of the equality rights we have fought so hard to gain 😢🏳️‍🌈💔
