I also think much of our policy response is driven by a sort of moral panic rather than a logical response to evidence. Logic says, for example, build nuclear power stations but instead we're using ecologically damaging and inefficient windmills.

Two things. The Stern Review which set out the economic policy response to climate concerns (not read the whole thing though way to techie) and the reports from the UK climate change council (which sort of says we need to do a little bit more but not panic).

You see, while I buy the idea of decoupling resource use from economic growth, I don't believe the "it's an emergency" shtick.

People keep saying this. It still makes zero sense to say a millionaire black actor has less privilage than an unemployed white single mum in a damp Keighley flat.

We fly 5-6 times a year. Can confirm the absolute absence of any shame at this. People need to own their consumption.

Any vestiges of good sense vanish when Portes wanders from his actual research area. He once emailed me at length in response to a mildly critical sentence in my blog.

Wedgwood were once a client. As a promotional gimmick for their corporate gifts team we mailed their customers a "plate turner over" card - gave "permission" to do what you've done. The buyers loved it!

If you’re accusing someone of racism...you need to be able to demonstrate that with an example Your own personal identity is not proof Your race, gender, sexuality or class is not proof of what you say Unsupported assertions are meaningless

I inherited a desk and drawers in my new job but didn’t have the key until today. When I opened it the stuff from the previous person was still inside it. Shuffling through I stumbled across the order of service for a 21yo girl, Amelia.

Genuine question. Why does the woke Left always attack people rather than their ideas?
