Does anyone know of someone in the UK culturing #tardigrades? Am looking from new live subjects for our schools microscopy project (www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/microscopes4sc…). Currently use Daphnia, Volvox, Tetrahymena, Paramecium. Other suggestions welcome.

@WeardaleDiary used to do a practical where he brought in moss from his garden and there were tardigrades (and nematodes)

Thanks! I had been planning to give this a try too and may ask for some tips if I don’t have much success.

Thanks. I should try this sometime but this school already has another visitor talking about C.elegans.

I recommend contacting Sciento.co.uk You can get them to post cultures of beasties to the school if your doing visits or virtual visits even. I'm not culturing any tardigrades atm. But can send you a protocol...

Not sure about cultures in the UK, but some of us in @MBLScience #embryo2018 (thanks Bob Goldstein and @KiraTheExplora @UNC) found tardigrades in dry moss/lichen + spring water. Was a fun practical!

Simon, live imaging Vorticella from pond water was a lot fun! Flexible cytoskeletal behaviour being the highlight! I can give you more details if you're interested!
