I’m sure a sponsor / business would love to have a player spend time in their office or teaching them a trade some afternoons a week: They get to help someone at their club, at the same time the player gets valuable experience. Both benefit then. Just needs someone to initiate it

Clubs have strong links with businesses in their local community which could offer valuable experience for players to try things out & get a taste for a career in the future while also getting the club more actively involved and helping to grow relationships in the community too

I do think the lower down the leagues you go there should be more emphasis on pushing players towards looking to the future given the lack of contractual security and finance for players in the top 2 divisions. From the clubs and authorities. Some clubs do but not all

That makes sense, a chicken and egg scenario! A lot of the skills: leadership, resilience, discipline, working as part of a team - can all be transferred into the working world. It may not be the same as a dressing room but theres support from &

It seems like football’s had a hidden culture until recently years where players “must stay focused” & a combo of thinking of the here and now / not wanting to be distracted / fear of perception that your not 100% committed to the football means it falls by the wayside?

It's an international weekend but still loads of L1 & L2 action on tonight from 9pm. I've been watching a brilliant miss & goal for Coventry & a performance that Lincoln manager Michael Appleton described as "rubbish" at Gillingham and a goal after 21 secs at Port Vale

👏👏👏 whatever people say about Karl Robinson the manager, I’ve never known an Oxford manager try so hard to engage with supporters. Gestures like this are no PR stunt, he just gets how important the fans are to the club. A lot of respect for this.

That's admirable commitment, the cynic in me was thinking you had been sowing the seeds to get out of an EFL Trophy trip round the M25. What a pro!
