I think honesty is so important when talking about characters who deal with this. We have to help tear down the stigmas associated with mental illness so they know 1) it’s something many people have to live with and 2) it’s healthy to talk about.

I don't know if drug addiction is included here, but I found the portrayal of addiction in 's book THE SEVENTH WISH to be very accurate and moving.
