That said, we now do have the ability to "audit" to track each change to a set of whitelisted site settings, including date it was done, etc. I'm putting in a request to add Badge related settings to the whitelist so it is also tracked.

There is an issue with the UI. It was set to ON for your site profile but the UI always shows the status as OFF. We're on a fix for it. That said, there is no reason it should have flipped on suddenly. The feature was released August 2017. Are you sure it was not turned on?
