Today I would like to recognise David Ross for his long and illustrious career with the CLC. I have always had a deep respect for his dedication, work ethic and unwavering passion for First Nations rights in Central Australia, and I am proud to be Rossy's friend and supporter

It’s time to proudly recognise our First Nations Peoples in our Constitution, so that it might be a Constitution for all Australians. A Labor Government, together with First Nations people will make the Voice a reality - including a pathway to a referendum.

It is estimated that around 1000 Aboriginal people fought in WWI. In WA alone, at least 130 men sought to enlist, with 83 going on to serve overseas, 12 of which would never make it home. Today we acknowledge & honour the contribution of all servicemen to our military service

A highlight of my trip to Bathurst to deliver the Light on the Hill lecture was meeting Cody Jones, a young Wiradjuri man and future leader of our nation. Cody showed me a woodcarving his step-father made of me in my hat. I was humbled. And impressed!

Meanwhile, I’m in Bathurst about to hear deliver the annual Light on the Hill address. Introduced as exercising ‘patience, intelligence and goodwill’ in his pursuit of justice for First Nations people. I couldn’t have said it better.

A great privilege to deliver the 2018 Light on the Hill address. Our Nation has yet to deliver First Nations with the standards of quality living identified by Chifley. We have more to do to ensure the light on the hill shines for First Nations. But shine it will under Labor.
