Well deserved! Angie is a terrific addition to this team. It was great working with her during my tenure in the Senate with a particular shout out for her help getting job-protected family leave (SB 1383) to the finish line.

We have accomplished a great deal, which would not have been possible without your support. I am so proud that many of the laws I authored have been groundbreaking or opened up new worlds of possibility for the people of California—and beyond.

This year as we enjoy hearty food, connect with family virtually, and give thanks, I want to extend my gratitude to the first responders, medical and hospital staff, and essential workers who have put everything on the line to keep us healthy amid the COVID19 pandemic.

Due to the rising number of coronavirus infections, Governor Newsom has issued a travel advisory urging residents to stay local for the holidays. Although many of us wish we could travel to see our families, we should heed the Governor’s plea to avoid non-essential travel.

I joined Hillary Hauser of Heal the Ocean to celebrate the work being done to cap the Treadwell leaking oil well. As part of my effort to cap these old & abandoned wells, I authored SB44 in 2017 & secured $14M over the course of 7 years to cap these environmental hazards.

Today is the day in 2020 when the average Latina catches up to what the average white non-Hispanic man earned in 2019. In CA, Latinas are paid just 42 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men. We have to do better.
