In a way this is the question posed by many of William Faulkner's works. Much character anxiety stems from the possibility of mixed race relations, in Absalom, Absalom especially. This would be a good text for discussion on this, though it took me multiple reads.

I think that pubs have done a great deal to reduce risk. Seems unfair to say to a publican it's your kids' education or your livelihood. But what is the evidence that a pub and a school open simultaneously will heighten infection and illness?

Apologies if I'm being thick. Why do pubs have to close in order to justify opening schools? I can't recall the last time I did a school trip to the pub.
