Definitely DO NOT wear contacts to a protest. They won't glue to your eye and cause permanent blindness, but if that's what people need to hear to keep them from wearing contacts to a protest, then fine they will glue to your eye and cause blindness.

Not all applicants have that luxury, though. It's a difficult mine field to navigate. When someone's SoMe content is viewed negatively, regardless of intent, there are many potential consequences, both personal and professional. Education/awareness is the best way to avoid this.
