I’m sure transition would lead to infrastructure projects but most of them would be short to medium term at best. I can see how this could work in other areas in Canada with easy access to goods and transportation. I am not trying to be argumentative 3/

is not typically cost effective or likely given our transportation and geographic issues as well as access to necessary materials. Marketing as a us as a Service hub for other areas also is hard sell for the same reasons. 2/

I’m sure there is modelling and tech in place, but ensuring we get some of the stimulus if and when doesn’t give much clarity or security. My biggest concern is what this looks like from a people prospective. Manufacturing for internal and external markets from NL 1/

I would like to see a clear plan, how transition would work for NL before conceding the loss of the largest sector of our economy, which employs thousands of us directly and many more indirectly. I don’t think that is much to ask considering it’s only many of our livelihoods.

Many of these green energy jobs come in the form of manufacturing, with our geographical challenges and thier effect on supply chain, we are pigeon holed here, NL will not be a cost effective option. IMO transition away from O&G leads to a greater exodus than the moratorium.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. The local supply community’s giving spirit is widely known with countless worthy causes supported b/c of success in . With no vibrant offshore, impact to non-profits will be unimaginable

And she is only scratching the surface there. Thinking on the ball fields and parks. My former place donated to the boys and girls clubs each year. Beyond the major companies OFS/OFE companies do a great deal in the communities as well.

Diversification, which would be lovely, requires capitol and can be done WITH the revenue from O&G. But make no mistake, NL needs O&G more now than ever.

Diversifying the economy can be great for NL. Could balance revenue and create more employment alongside O&G. After we stabilize our biggest sector, then utilize portion revenues to further grow other sectors. A little off their point I think, but that doesn’t sound horrible.
