Oh, and they played their music super well. Which is important. But it’s not the only important thing. Music teaches kids so much. Ensembles are so valuable.

They included kids they didn’t even know, reminded each other to stay quiet backstage, helped untangle a bracelet from a dress, and remained calm in a novel situation

My Ss were kind to others, they cooperated, they were flexible when things changed, they supported other groups and were a respectful audience.

I only find it annoying when it’s used at an inappropriate time or place... context matters! It really isn’t annoying at recess, for beat keeping, or in choreography where it makes sense
