I love how every one ignored Jim Crow and other racists economical exclusions Descendants of Slaves incurred in this country...wealth and development of this country would not of happened if it wasn't for slavery and that wealth was kept from our people after slavery.

I already RT’d this once but I’m doing it again because is incredible & helps me connect the dots re: race & tax/budget policy, and to speak about it even when I get pushback. Staying mum only allows these oppressive systems to continue unabated.

Just here for #Reparations 😑 3h
They typically do not schedule a hearing with a person unless they’re ordered to appear before that committee. And Dr. Darity is old enough, smart enough, and wise enough to handle a simple schedule. He is an economist after all...20 books...200+ research articles...So yeah.

Re reparations, as of Friday, Amazon is valued at $920.5 Billion. This stock chart is an excellent visual metaphor for the American economy’s profit from our blood & bones. Assume 1997 is 1619, assume 2007 is 1776 (the formation of America).

The lateral mobility hypothesis comes directly into play with respect to Chinese Americans. The similar "treatment" argument is not compelling. See pages esp pp.440-441.

Well, that means we haven't had the best in any of those categories for a long, long time. Of course, your position also implies that there are purely objective standards for "merit." The fact that there are not enables discriminators to ply their trade.

The number of racists in the replies here indicates how tough the road ahead is. No matter your credentials or how much work you put in to show them the truth....they only care about maintaining a system they believe benefits them.

. sits down with economist Darrick Hamilton to discuss the racial wealth gap in the United States. "The typical black household where the head graduated from college has less wealth than a white household where the head dropped out of high school," says Hamilton.

There has been a lot of lazy terrible analysis claiming that canceling all student debt would be regressive. utterly destroys that here.

sat next to this white couple on plane who were dying to tell me that they were coming back from an “african safari.” “are you kenyan,” they ask? I said “no,” and turned my head. the racist lady continues: “such lovely people. but they all need major dental work.” see?!!!!

Black folk are extraordinarily resilient and motivated. But they lack intergenerational wealth, and you can't manufacture that out of effort and drive. Average black household has $800,000 less in net worth than the average white household.

You are correct. The precise statement is they obtained higher ("middle class") incomes through admin positions in the public sector, but not high wealth. Higher incomes do not translate automatically into "middle class" wealth for anyone, white or black., w'out wealthy parents.
