A French MP (right-wing) is calling the president of the National Assembly to open an inquiry to investigate the "intellectual drift" in academia (& added Islamo-leftism" in hashtag). Not that I'm surprised, but our political elite is going after academia and academic freedom.

Damn, it's so rare to hear this these days with how tough refugee and asylum laws have gotten in France!! Congrats , and whatever solace you were looking for in France, I hope it will provide to you (and hopefully to many more) ♥️🙏

is one of the best legal scholars out there, and one of the most knowledgeable on laïcité and its weaponization (she also happens to *actually* be French). Go register if you want to educate yourself on the subject and follow her work

In the absence of real proof of criminal activities or complicity in criminal activities or legitimate suspicion of intent to participate in one, this would just further anchor the French state in its democratic regression.

These figures happen to be part of and/or close to an ideological movement to whom the French Minister of Interior is very sympathetic. The first threats of dissolution against the NGO were formulated following those revelations, casting doubt on the real intended goal.

The head of the NGO is a very controversial figure and have had controversial stances, but none of the accusations of islamist activity by the NGO have ever been proven. However, he has recently outed some embarassing infos about big public figures of Islamophobia in French media

French Council of State (one of the two highest courts in the French juridical system) officially confirmed the dissolution of Islamic NGO BarakaCity after French Minister of the Interior said there would be a crackdown "to set the example" (his words, not mine)

Numerous accounts of Belgian nationals offering to post/share pictures/videos of police violence in France to bypass the law that would potentially make French citizens & journalists face charges for doing so. This is one example of such accounts, entirely dedicated to it

Can't believe this. I'm a big amateur of colonial anthropology (mainly because it's to criticize it but also because I'm masochist) so if you have a pdf of this I'd love to have it
