Congratulations to Dr. Beth Petitjean (SLU PhD, 2019), who has been awarded the CAS Distinguished Dissertation Award. Her dissertation, entitled "The Baths and the Medici: Taking the waters in Grand Ducal Tuscany," explores communities of care and early modern aquatic tourism.

Good luck to our students and faculty starting on-line instruction today. May your Zoom be more orderly than an ancient Roman classroom. (From Ostia, and the great web resource for the history of everyday life at Rome's harbor town: ).

Any tips from fellow teachers in transitioning unessays to online? I have a number of students with interesting ideas that don't lend themselves to easy digitization.
