Many MLAs are not scoundrels & have been left in a deeply unfair position for 970 days. There is a growing Stormont brain drain where capable MLAs either quit the Assembly or abandon politics entirely. That will have ramifications if Stormont returns.

I am pleased that Ian Paisley has tonight published this retraction. We all make mistakes - I've certainly made plenty. I thank Mr Paisley for accepting that there was never any truth in his claims & the matter is now closed. Thanks again to all those who have expressed support.

Jeremy Corbyn giving Boris Johnson a run for his money in creatively reinterpreting what words mean: Last November he referred to "the utterly unacceptable backstop". Now he tells that while saying that he actually supported the backstop.

It’s interesting that it’s conservatives who are at the centre of controversy over abandoning constitutional conventions. Their ideological commitment to conserving tradition surely looks decidedly shaky? Palace 'displeasure' at Cameron's Queen comments

I'll be talking to tonight on BBC1 about the events of recent days & then hopefully getting back to doing my job. Sincere thanks again for all the support for myself & my family - it's come from members of all parties & from people from across the tribal divide.

Hi Stuart, I'm sorry to hear that. If I'd known it was from you, I would have said so and I will get the online story updated to make that clear. Best regards, Sam

Thanks Mike. That's very decent of you because there must have been plenty of times, especially early in your leadership, when my face was on a dartboard in your office, given what I was writing about the UUP tearing itself apart.

In your neck of the woods, Easons, I'm pretty sure - and hopefully all other good bookshops! should have details nearer the launch in a month's time.

Thanks, David. As you're all too aware, for some people the truth is a complicating factor to their plans - much easier to attack the messenger than engage with a message that is true (or an honest attempt to get to the truth, which is often the best we can do in this job).
