I'm spending Presidents Day weekend researching presidential candidates ahead of our endorsement, which we'll publish this week. And I'm grateful for all journalists covering the 2020 campaign. Their collective work is impressive, invigorating and essential to democracy. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words, Tony. That was a fun couple hours. A true public service to those in attendance to see how these candidates would lead. I think we drew out some nuanced differences and got to go pretty deep on policy. Time well spent. Appreciate everyone’s involvement.

Here's the story on debate I moderated today: Proud of this line: "Friday’s debate managed to be more policy-focused and avoided much of the crossfire that dominated previous events." I'd credit the moderator with that outcome! 😉

That's the question. I asked it at the debate today. Campa-Najjar and Jones do. DeMaio doesn't. Issa doesn't, but his mother (I believe) lives in Bonsall.

Lot of fun and more than a few jabs at the CD 50 and mayoral forums I just finished moderating this afternoon. Thanks to the candidates and to the crowd. Someone in the audience told me after the 50th wasn’t like herding cats, more like hand grenades. 👊 Good times.
