Vegas seems full of stories like that. Players that weren't highly regarded or had question marks about them coming together and finding another level with this team.

Golden Knights are the 3rd team from the NHL, NBA and MLB to complete a four-game sweep to win their first-ever playoff series. The Penguins did so in 1970 (vs. Oakland Seals) and the MLB's Boston Braves did so in 1914 (vs. Philadelphia Athletics). h/t

Man, amazing for Vegas to sweep this series. At the same time, the gap between the Kings and Golden Knights in this series wasn't big. Vegas swept and they fought hard to get the sweep, but the Kings played really well too.

Whatever happens with the rest of the game, Fleury has just been a huge factor in this series. Probably the best goalie of the playoffs thus far.

This is the longest game in Vegas Golden Knights history. I know you're all impressed by my amazing knowledge.

With regards to the last RT, for what it's worth, I agree with it from a player perspective (they should always be thinking win now), but it's obviously more complicated from a management perspective.

Chris Kreider on what he thinks of the word rebuild in the NHL: "The NHL, at least the way it was explained to me early on, isn't a developmental league. This is a what have you done for me lately league, let's win now, especially in New York."

Alex Ovechkin falls just shy of his 8th career 50-goal season, but (barring a 7-goal explosion by William Karlsson) will tie Bobby Hull for the most times leading the NHL in single season goals (7)

I doubt we'll get that PHI-FLA tiebreaking game, but it'd certainly be fun. I like tiebreaker games and I think the NHL might be better off making them more plausible to reach in future seasons. For example, use only ROW as a tiebreaker and beyond that have a one-game playoff.

It also makes the Hart feel like a team-based trophy. As in, is there something more McDavid was supposed to do? It seems like the only thing holding him back from the Hart is having been surrounded by underperforming and/or subpar teammates.

I'm not rooting against NJ. I do bring up some of the struggles since Dec. 27 and discuss the Wild Card race as a whole. But I think the Devils are a team on an upswing regardless of what happens this year and they certainly are still in a strong position in the playoff fight.

Not that I spend much time thinking about the NHL's three stars, but it's a bit surprising that Laine's 5G 0A trumped Marchand's 4G 4A. I guess the historical significance of Laine's hat trick was a factor?

What is your most incredible/embarrassing sports failure? I will start. I got cut from my JV baseball team in 9th grade in favor of a kid that was literally run over by a car *during* a tryout.

Also this was your first back-to-back losses in a month and a half. Course one of them was in OT...you'd have to go back to Nov. 28-Dec. 1 to find the last time Vegas lost consecutive games in regulation.

You know that feeling when you're very tired and you want to say how tired you are, but you're too tired to think of how to explain how tired you are?
