‘Adlertag’ or ‘Eagle Day’, took place 80 years ago. The Luftwaffe flew 1485 missions over south England in the 1st major attack on RAF stations. 45 Luftwaffe & 13 RAF aircraft were lost. Defending UK skies over the coming weeks would push the RAF to its limits.
