Scholastic Book Fair fliers coming home. Suggestion: Quietly offer to your kid's teacher that you'd like to give $8-10 to her/him to quietly give to 2 kids who don't receive $ from home to buy a book. I've watched at the fairs the kids who wish they could buy a book, but can't.

I’m a teacher who does scholastic every month. And every month we have surprise “free book winners”. 2 or 3 a month and nobody wins more than once a year. It costs me money every month but it’s worth it to see the face of the students who “win” every month.

That is a very kind and sweet offer but no thank you. I plan for it every year and budget accordingly. But thank you so much for the offer.

You are right. Captain America doesn’t. Iron Man doesn’t. Wait. Nevermind. I get it. Lol. Thanks for the compliment my friend. Not necessary at all.

Just out of curiosity, how do you do it? Do you purchase the books, and the "winners" get the book you purchased, or do they win the ability to go pick out a "free" book? If Option B, are they able to pick any priced book they want, or do you find a way to put a limit on it?

Before I place the order I say that scholastic has awarded 3 students a free book. I announce the winners and they pick whatever book they want for me to order. They get whatever they choose. They are young so they aren’t looking at prices they are looking for interests.

Exactly, I had great teachers I feel bad for this generation, our greatest asset is our teachers, it's that first step away from your parents, when you learn how to be a good citizen in the big bad world It means everything, OK, off my soapbox,
