Here is more information about the Special Tourist Visa which could start as early as October. It looks like the Thai Longstay Company will be acting on behalf of the TAT and the government to help you with the visa. Much the same as the Thailand Elite company. More details soon.

๐Ÿ‘‰ You have to pay for accommodation in advance for not only the quarantine hotel, but your hotel afterwards. But for how long? Pay for 90 days in advance? In this graphic, they showed a potential income of เธฟ372,000 from hotel stay. I guess thatโ€™s the amount if you stay 270 days.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you own a condo, you can stay in that AFTER hotel quarantine has finished. But you have to prove ownership or relationship to the owner ๐Ÿ‘‰ You need a police background check. I havenโ€™t seen that before ๐Ÿ‘‰ It looks like they might limit which countries you can fly in from

๐Ÿ‘‰ Many people have asked me if they can change to Special Tourist Visa if they are here in Thailand on visa amnesty. The quick answer to that is, no. Sorry. You have to leave and apply for this at a Thai Embassy. There doesnโ€™t seem to be any plans to help stranded tourists here.

TAT Governor made it clear in this interview that Thai Longstay Company is just one of many agencies that can help foreigners with the STV visa. He also said only countries in the Top 10 of the global COVID19 Index or ones who havenโ€™t had new cases for say 28 days will be allowed

I think it just became more clear just how they think the revenue is expected to be 830k baht per person... ...yet another "elite visa" scheme.

So now a criminal background check has been thrown into the mix and there's no guarantee you'll be one of the chosen if you come from an 'undesirable' country anyway.

I hope they reconsider this. It sounds like a bad idea. Hopefully the entry barrier will be too big and not many tourists will request this visa
