IMPORTANT: The Governor of Krabi has signed an order to limit travel in & out of the province 4-30 April. Also, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta & Ao Nang will be in lockdown. No-one allowed in or out. All hotels with no guest to be closed. Masks are compulsory

The order clearly says no boat services, long-tailed boats and tourist speedboats. You will also have a secondary problem even if you can get off the island as buses are not allowed and I think taxis too. Best to ask your hotel for advice. Good luck!

As far as I know, the Airport in Krabi is still open, though there are not many airlines operating. If you can get out, I would advise to do sooner rather later. I’m told that if you have flight tickets, you can travel to the airport. Though your problem is finding transport.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: It would seem that all foreign tourists in Krabi province have to check out of their hotels before 10 April and move to designated hotels in their district. I will post more as soon as I get clearer information

Just to add, some people in Krabi told me that they have been told they will be fine in private accommodation. Fairly easy to find a house to rent and share with someone. Maybe try Airbnb. I will let you know the quarantine hotels soon, but they will be ฿1,000+ per day

All this HAS to make international news at some point. Thai authorities are potentially creating a humanitarian crisis.

Are the government picking up the tab on this?

PR disaster for TAT. Foreigners basically being kicked out. Only one step away from asking work permit holders to leave too.

It would be useful if they actually let us know which places are the designated hotels. Its madness.

Happened to my nephew and his pal yesterday. Luckily, they managed to find a place to share with 4 others very quickly so won't have to be quartered in one of the fairly expensive Government approved gulags.

Makes sense, limit the potential exposure and easier to manage from a potential quarantine/movement perspective.

So they are all going to be rammed together in designated hotels which end up full? Good planning.
