One of the hardest things I did in an already hard 2020 was preach about the miscarriage Carrie and I experienced three years ago. I told my small church in Alabama. Meghan Markle told the world--a world that already tried to tear her down and will keep trying. God bless her.

So there is a lot here for us Christians to repent of and atone for, but let's start with loving queerphobia more than hating Nazism.

Why was I not informed there is a Roman-style colosseum in the Sinnoh region?! That's it, I'm doing the Pokémon teams of historical figures.

Older ministers--if a younger colleague addresses you by your title (Reverend/Pastor/Doctor/etc.), please do not respond by addressing them by their first name. Same goes for men to female (or nonbinary) colleagues, white ministers to colleagues of color, etc.

It seems worth noting--especially in the wake of Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation to the Supreme Court--that between Biden, Kerry, and Tim Kaine, you have to go back twenty years to find a Democratic ticket without a practicing Roman Catholic on it.

The Associated Press just reported that when Iowa did this, the state experienced a 25% increase in the number of abortions performed after several years of decreases.

Amazon is almost sold out of both my books, Oregon Trail Theology and On Earth as it is in Heaven. If you’d like some to give as gifts/stocking stuffers, I have signed copies for $15 each, or $25 for both books, plus shipping. And you get to cut out the Amazon middleman! DMs open

With my generation it was school shootings, lockdown drills, and turning schools into fortresses. Hopefully once we finally get our fingers on the levers of power we can stop finding new ways to traumatize our children.

The people whom American Christians imagine persecuting us are, in fact, often the people the church has done wrong by, and us continuing this charade of persecution instead of working to repair the harm we have done is a terrible witness.

I wouldn't vote for Rahm Emanuel for dogcatcher, on account of the fact that humanely catching and sheltering stray animals is important work, and that Rahm Emanuel covered up Laquan McDonald's murder.

Meanwhile, the outgoing administration was happy to make a holy performative stink about protecting persecuted Christians worldwide, yet were nowhere to be found when an actual war of aggression was begun, except for one half-baked ceasefire attempt that lasted three nanoseconds.

Biden's campaign talked a good talk about substantively addressing the Nagorno-Karabakh war, and they're going to have a very early chance to walk the walk by pushing for Azerbaijan to be held accountable for mutilating, torturing, and beheading Armenian prisoners of war.

I wholeheartedly believe God sustains us in ways that only God can, but also that God might need to sustain us just a tiny bit less if we knew how to actually season our food.

Yes! I wish we weren't so afraid of Revelation (or so afraid of what we've been taught it must foretell). I take value in the hope that John of Patmos had for what might come of his circumstances, and I think not knowing exactly what comes next for us can be hopeful, not fearful.
