The VA should work for our veterans, not the other way around, but I've heard too many stories of vets who must travel hours out of state to get the C&P exams they need to determine their benefits. That’s why I called on the VA to expand telehealth & meet vets where they are.

We're going to continue pushing for more fast ferry routes, especially to help Brooklyn commuters, but this an important chance to turn the page on Staten Island being left out of the fast ferry program and will offer more desperately needed commuting options.

Second stop with this morning: scoping out the location of the new pier which will serve the new line between St. George, Battery Park, and West 39th St. coming later this year.

Last night I had the honor of celebrating 20 incredible individuals whom I am nominating to our U.S. Service Academies. Each one of them reminds me of the incredible men and women I served with - and they're the prime example of what makes this the greatest country in the world.

Note to self: When it's 30 degrees and you're bald, don't be the only guy in the ferry terminal who forgot to wear a hat... In all seriousness, great conversations this morning about all that we've accomplished in year one. Thanks to everyone who stopped to say hi!

No American should ever be afraid to worship, gather for prayers, or celebrate with their community. Unfortunately with rising hate and violence taking place across our city and country, it’s a reality that’s occurring far too often, and I won't rest until we reverse that trend.

My job isn't just to vote on bills and walk away, it's about following through until you see results. After my successful effort to increase Non Profit Security Grant funding, last night's workshop made sure those who need this funding the most know about it & know how to apply.

Ten years ago today, the Supreme Court's decision gave special interests free reign over the Halls of Congress, but it also reignited the movement to kick them out once and for all. Proud to help lead that movement and to receive an A+ from .

Dr. King's words are true, but they're not inevitable. So much of the hatred he was fighting 60 years ago still exists today, and now it falls on all of our shoulders to honor his legacy and follow the roadmap he left for us to fulfill his dream.

The situation in Egypt for the Coptic community is dire. Thanks to the American Coptic Council for raising the important issue of one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, especially on this holy day of Epiphany. We’ll always stand for the freedom to worship in peace.

Yesterday I stopped by to congratulate them on their championship this year. These kids have done an incredible job resurrecting their football program, and in the process have learned lessons they’ll carry with them the rest of their lives.

There is no rhyme or reason to this policy and it only does more harm to our national security. Fighting to keep families together, no matter what country they're from, is distinctly American.

Was proud to deliver the news first-hand at the Islamic Center of Staten Island that more than 30 members joined me to urge Congress to repeal the Muslim ban. Calling it a "Travel Ban" doesn't change the fact that its a xenophobic policy with no basis in our national security.
