Here's a segment of the 59-page bill we were given three hours before we gavel out. Would have appreciated the standard three-day posting period to learn some tax law.

I'm learning what Kentucky can do to decrease maternal mortality ratios with UofL epidemiologist (and D31 resident!) Dr. Anne Wallis . "Around the world and in the U.S., we focus a lot on babies and we don't focus enough on women."

You don't hear much about climate change on the Kentucky House floor. Proud of my Rep for doing her part to change that tonight.

I'm still a no. We don't know if we will vote on it again or not. Thanks all for keeping the pressure on.

They want to let friendly reps throw a bone to their communities. We can debate whether it's cheesy, but I will add there's plenty of time to do this and other good or bad stuff. Whatever we don't get done won't be because we ran out of time, it's priorities.

This would drastically cut unemployment to families struggling to hold on during a difficult time. It's an insult to Kentuckians, particularly working parents. Despite what some of my colleagues said, the safety net isn't "generous," it's a given in civilized society.

Today the Small Business & IT Committee I sit on approved a bill that slashes an important part of our social safety net. I voted "an emphatic no." The bill would cut the number of weeks a Kentuckian can receive unemployment benefits from 26 to 20.

It's 79 steps from the House Chamber to the women's restroom, and 15 steps to the men's. Just sayin'.
