We must stop sacrificing the civil liberties our Constitution guarantees in the name of national security. Our bipartisan bill protects Americans' privacy & civil rights. It reinforces that we can—& must—protect our national security & our civil liberties at the same time.

If we don't stand up to a president who abuses his power, we risk sending a message to all future presidents that they can put their own personal political interests ahead of the American people, our national security & our elections.

During the July 25 call, President Trump never once raised legitimate corruption concerns with Ukraine. Instead, he viciously maligned Ambassador Yovanovitch, a distinguished anti-corruption advocate, whom he abruptly removed because she was seen as an obstacle to his scheme.

Senators get 16 hours to ask questions. Wouldn't they like to ask about documents? If McConnell gets his way, they won't see any documents before their questions. Even if documents are allowed later, they can't ask a single question about them. Americans deserve a fair trial.

FACT CHECK: President Trump’s counsel lied when he said the President wasn’t allowed to participate in Judiciary impeachment hearings. Trump was given every opportunity to suggest witnesses, provide evidence & come clean to the American people. He refused.
