We're calling for the removal of 'the advancement of religion' as a charitable purpose after our latest report revealed the harm done by many charities which exist solely to promote religion

It’s a good survey. Please fill it in so that more people are made aware of the dangers of your high control group. The questions also make you reflect on what you experience as a survivor. Good job. xx

I was thinking: JWs are being held captive. They are being denied education and are being kept in poverty. Through a quirk in the group’s design, we managed to get thrown out. Otherwise we would still be slaves.

When did we stop protecting children in the name of religion? Guess who else protects the organization over their own children? Scientology. They have lots of secret files that & should be interested in. Thank you

Your sucks if: 1. It claims to be the only true path to . 2. It tells you not to associate with "unbelievers". 3. It causes you to look down on other . 4. It demands you friends/family. 5. It demands you because "I say so".

The editor reviewing my book sat down, cup of coffee in hand and began making changes- when lo and behold- JWs knocked on her door! Man, no wonder we had a reputation! 🤣

Certainly the most fundamental and important thing is to have a voice. Similar to sexual abuse survivors, when an is disfellowshipped, they are silenced, there is a sorts of victim blaming. The result is the victim suffers shame and may become disconnected.

survivors who have been cast out from their community suffer with the trauma of abandonment. This results in so many forms of relationships issues and the inability to get close to someone, inability to trust.

survivors often suffer shame. We buy into the fact that we are somehow inadequate, which leads to self harm and suicide ideation and the inability to accept accolades.

Loss of identity. I often hear “I feel as if I am not living my life. I am not me.” This is common among sexual abuse survivors especially, but also exjws who were born in and then had to change their internal wiring.

I can only try to describe being cast out: it is like suffering amnesia, or landing on another planet, or being hit by a bus and traversing the planet with internal bleeding. It is excruciating when you have to extricate yourself from the realities that were programmed within you

I was like that little girl and between 17 to 21 I had a crisis point. I had experienced anorexia, cutting, and suicidal feelings. I was under so much control, I then went on a destructive path and pushed boundaries so that I was cast out. I was disfellowshipped.

Most JWs are born in. It sounds like you have been moved by something about that girl, because maybe you could just feel something was innately so strange. That child is being manipulated and she is a by-product of a lot of disturbing propaganda.
