Had the honor in getting to hear former CDC Director, 116th Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher . This man is a trailblazer for brown and black men and women in the field of Healthcare /Public Health. Yes my eyes are 😒closed but the lighting was so good 😆

This girl just submitted her first application to Grad school! Whew coming from the person who people said would never go to college. This was a big step for me. No longer fearing failure. Can’t say I failed I haven’t tried . Prayers appreciated!

I will say going to Washington was a unique experience. It was first time I was meet face to face of the reality that Washington is controlled by all👏🏾white 👏🏾men 👏🏾 and it was intimidating as crap! I applaud every woman who is a leader that walks those hallways bravely ✊🏾

A Beauty with a Twist : A story about a girls journey to Hope, Healing & Restoration. I was born with two rare diseases and over the course of my life I’ve had 103 surgeries. Nevertheless, I found purpose through it all and found God in it all!

Today I thought about all of those kids in resource and the special ed class rooms I attended . I think about where they all went. Where did they end up ? How the heck did I end up here? Did they go to college are they settled in mediocre jobs . Are they making a livable wage?

This is what I’ve learned so far.... the power of advocacy is taking all the knowledge you know, information you’ve learned and resources you’ve accessed and driving that all into your local community
