Old green electrics in Manchester ... With class 90's been cascaded from Anglia to Freightliner, you will be unlikely to see these trusty old 86's much longer. 86639 and 613 in September, 2016. Also a double headed biomass (66716 and 703), and 66614 on cement at Stockport.

47203 passes Thorpe Culvert, Lincolnshire with a Saturday service to Skegness, the leaning signal box can clearly be seen in this 1980 photograph. The GNR somersault distant signal was dismantled some years later and passed on to the NNR I believe.

Sad denise of 45134, driven like a Knob which burnt the main generator out. Too heavy a train up an incline on a very wet september morning., on the Dunstable branch. Rescued by 45140 driven by my Dad (one in the hat) By lunchtime engine listed as to be scrapped!

Reddish Depot early 1983. The Woodhead route has been closed nearly 2 years, and the Class 76s are laid parked up awaiting their trip to CF Booths of Rotherham to be scrapped. The depot closed a few months after these pictures were taken, and is now a housing estate. © MS.
