The police killing of was a homicide, say examiners. Brooks was killed after he was found sleeping in his car at a Wendy's. He complied with a sobriety test but was shot in the back after police tried to arrest him. A decision on charges is expected this week.

A lot of unis say they’re trying to support students and faculty of color, particularly in this “newly discovered” era of white supremacy. Y’all should look as one model. They have money, they do writing retreats, they bring in the best scholars, they launch careers.

I’m at at UMich and just listened to half a dozen Black and brown women talk about how creating that space beat the hell out of the university’s top-down diversity and inclusion initiatives, and kept them in their PhD programs. They’re all thriving as faculty now.
