With 12 air quality alerts overnight for the Upper Hunter we have reached 612 alerts for the year. That is now more than double the alerts compared to 2018. Yes double. Any concerns expressed from our political leaders ? Not a word. Concerns only for investors.

When land managers cull "wild dogs", they're mostly killing dingoes. A 16-year analysis of canines culled in NSW found most were more than three quarter dingo, and one in four were pure dingoes. Just five were feral dogs with no dingo ancestry.

Urgh, you'd think this would have been a priority from the beginning. "Another change to the scheme will give participants the ability to access their NDIS plan in a range of accessible formats, including large font, audio, e-Text and braille."

All part of the financialisation of households. Convert purchases to payments, thus debt, create financial instruments around that debt, trade the debt. Also, extract data for free to make aggregate risk assessments, target products, ads etc.

Please. Just. Stop. Talking. 🤦‍♀️ Attacking the gays isn’t enough, this guy is now intent on insulting everyone suffering the bushfires and living in drought-stricken Australia.

The government is losing their poster boy for religious freedom but I suspect there will be a lot of false equivalency (comparing to blaming on climate change), as well as frequent use of that quote always misattributed to Voltaire.

The is pretty angry that the national broadcaster wants to report on climate change more effectively. Which, if you define your purpose as creating a weird, ultra-bonkers alternate reality of climate denial, I can see why they'd be mad.

We are now being led to an awed respect for the so-called “quiet Australian”, a social construct of hard right propaganda that seeks to deify a self-righteous abstinence from social engagement, all the while making a private choice for self-interest. I call BS.

This bit from an old episode of 'Yes, Prime Minister' is also an extremely neat history of Australia's climate politics, and precisely where it is at right now:

Yeah, how exactly does he justify his claim that burning gas reduces global carbon (dioxide) emissions? Surely anything that produces carbon dioxide as a waste product is ADDING to global emissions, not reducing them.
