Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen has been mentioned as not likely to develop into "a classical tropical cyclone" but that it will have "some tropical characteristics". Such systems are sometimes referred to as "hybrid cyclones". But what is a "hybrid cyclone"?

Yes. Some folks miss that when we get a PTC we now have forecast advisory packages to use. Don’t need models. The difference between forecast tracks and model guidance gets confusing when we broadly call these “forecast tracks”.

To all of the future EMs out there: take the extra time to take GIS courses in school. Your skills will be used. I’ve made 12 maps this week alone for incidents and events. Getting a job in this field is all about what you can bring to the agency, GIS is a quick ticket.

That's the lesson I learn over and over, reinforced over and over in my every day life. "Leadership" in whatever form, at whatever scale, is about believing in your people more than your opinion.

I mean honestly, when the media is calling out AOC for getting her hair done...ALL acts of self care right now are radical, maybe even rebellious. It can feel like a herculean effort to reach out and get help. Be your own hero...and help your people.

Anxiety & panic is terrifying. White knuckle. The idea we have to "go it alone" is a sneaky old story our ego slips in. Good for you for reaching out and getting the support you need in any form (nothing wrong with meds!) and thank you for sharing your story.

Just realized that every time I’m invited to a meeting/conference etc I just assume that part of the reason is that I’m a woman and so yay “diversity” and wow white men must just assume it’s 100% cause they’re awesome?!?! How must that feel????

Animal twitter has been on point the last few days. And, the "news" has become such a toxic cesspool so it's possible I'm only looking at tweets of puppies, kittens, and baby animals. BUT SO ARE YOU. Here is more of that quality content we need.

A wise person once told me: if you knew how much light you shine, you'd never be afraid to light your own candle. + It's taken me many years to understand the work of this. Today, I honor the work all of us do to tend to our own light.

The irony of course is that most journal publications I read would never pass go in a publication that practitioners actually read. One has to wonder why this is intentionally perpetuated as “better” science.

Maybe practitioners or people who *use* the results should be reviewers for an *applied* meteorology & climatology journal? Meteorologists: stop simultaneously calling for better communication with the public, while shaming folks to be more “sciencey”.
