Happened to me at age group world champs many years ago. After the nth marshal tried to turn my bike round, found it didn't fit and carried on trying to jam it under the racking anyway, I did rather lose patience.

Police officers are human beings too! It always makes me smile when I see the them stop for a coffee and a sandwich at the M&S at our local petrol station. Next time I'll go and say hello.

Oh dear. We've done that but fortunately were able to buy something when we got there instead of having to turn round.

Amazing emotion listening to it all over again. First time around listened via a patchy feed on vpn in the south of France, holding my breath every time it dropped out. Brilliant commentary as always.

I can't say I've noticed bigger jumps than on my road standard double set up (50/36 ovals and 11-32) & in my view the fact that you don't have to change down to inner ring when climbing is a big plus, but everyone's different.

Hmm not sure, but we'll try and find out. We have tried Shimano and SRAM long caged mechs (no clutch) with no problems with 56T 1x (both round and oval) and 11-36 cassette.
